Discover Your Direction in Life

Overview

The Philadelphia Center (TPC) is one of the nation’s oldest experiential education and off-campus study programs.  Since 1967, TPC has helped more than 6,700 students from over 80 colleges and 50 countries discover their personal and professional direction in life through one of the following programs:

16 week semester program for all undergraduates and majors - Students work 32 hours per week in an internship they choose, enroll in two seminars, and live independently in Philadelphia.

16-week semester program for student-teaching - Through our contacts at various schools in the city, student-teachers can fulfill their certification requirements by spending their semester working with elementary, middle school, or high school students in Philadelphia.

16-week semester program for social work practicum - Students already majoring in Social Work can fulfill their 440/448 hour BSW Practicum Requirements at TPC. The Philadelphia Center offers Social Work majors exceptional opportunities to meet accreditation requirements for graduation.

8 week summer program for undergraduates - An 8-week internship and seminar experience that gives undergraduates a substantial and meaningful opportunity to learn the dynamics of work.

8 week summer program for recent graduates - An 8-week internship and seminar experience that provides graduates with a substantial and meaningful opportunity to explore the dynamics of work prior to graduate school or launching their career.

Fellowships - Research Fellowships in the Liberal Arts for well-qualified Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) students looking to explore disciplinary interests at renowned research institutions in preparation for graduate school or professions in museum studies, public history, or literary studies.
